Pope Benedict XVI to be called “Pope Emeritus”… also thoughts on Fatima

Via the Vatican Information Service, our Holy Father will be called “Pope Emeritus” upon his abdication of his office of Pope:

Benedict XVI will be “Pontiff emeritus” or “Pope emeritus”, as Fr. Federico Lombardi, S.J., director of the Holy See Press Office, reported in a press conference on th final days of the current pontificate. He will keep the name of “His Holiness, Benedict XVI” and will dress in a simple white cassock without the mozzetta (elbow-length cape).

This is reported pretty much everywhere, including some of my favorite sites – Rorate Caeli, and What Does the Prayer Really Say (Father Z’s site — including cool Father Z commentary).

Father Z asks Where will you be at 8:00 PM Rome time?  That is 1:00 Central Daylight Time, so I will either be at work writing iPhone code, or with a newborn baby.  Baby takes precedence :)

Also, it is being pointed out in comments on traditional Catholic sites the text of the 3rd Secret of Fatima, including HERE (Rorate again) and HERE (Fish Eaters).  The Remnant Newspaper has commentary on this as well. From the Vatican, the text states of the 3rd Secret states:

The third part of the secret revealed at the Cova da Iria-Fatima, on 13 July 1917.

I write in obedience to you, my God, who command me to do so through his Excellency the Bishop of Leiria and through your Most Holy Mother and mine.

After the two parts which I have already explained, at the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendour that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: pointing to the earth with his right hand, the Angel cried out in a loud voice: ‘Penance, Penance, Penance!’. And we saw in an immense light that is God: ‘something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it’ a Bishop dressed in White ‘we had the impression that it was the Holy Father’. Other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big Cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark; before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions. Beneath the two arms of the Cross there were two Angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the Martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God.

Tuy-3-1-1944”.

I have great faith in the visions of Fatima, and believe that we are living in times foretold by Our Lady, in a great apostasy that spread out from Russia and now encompasses the world.  The 3rd Secret is scary, especially when descriptions of what we see happening have a similarity to what is in the 3rd secret.

That said, I am no prophet, and cannot predict the future with any more accuracy than anyone else.  I am not even sure when my new daughter is to be born, other than to say VERY SOON (which is very exciting ;) ).

Do not fear that the secret is coming true.  It could be, but maybe not yet.  Rather, just heed Our Lady’s warnings.  Pray the Rosary, often.  Do penance for sinners.  Go to Confession!  Avoid sin, and near occasions of sin (don’t put yourself into situations where your are tempted).  Act as if you are going to be standing before the judgement seat of God now, and you will be ready whenever it happens.

God Bless the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI.  And please pray that the Conclave be guided by the Holy Ghost, and for a wonderful new pope.
